Dr Stefan Aquilina is currently Director of Research and Internationalisation of the School of Performing Arts at the University of Malta, and Lecturer in Theatre Studies. His main area of research is the transmission of embodied training, with an emphasis on modern practices, especially Stanislavsky’s System. Aquilina’s essays have appeared in journals such as Studies in Theatre and Performance, Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism, Theatre, Dance and Performance Training, Theatre Studies International, and Theatre History Studies. He has edited two books, Stanislavsky in the World: The Systems and its Transformations across Continents (with Prof. Jonathan Pitches of the University of Leeds, Bloomsbury 2017) and Interdisciplinarity in the Performing Arts: Contemporary Perspectives (with Dr Malaika Sarco-Thomas of the University of Malta, Malta University Press 2018). Aquilina is currently working on a monograph about modern theatre in Russia (Bloomsbury, expected publication date 2020).
